Agparak
means puffin in Inuktitut.
Puffins,
black guillemots and murres may wear similar suits and walk upright on land
like penguins; they may live in some of the coldest parts of the world like
penguins; they may nest in rocky areas along ocean shores like penguins; they
may dive underwater after fish like penguins; and they may even have common
ancestors with penguins: but THEY ARE NOT PENGUINS! First off, they can all
fly in the air -- and second they don't even live in the same hemisphere as
penguins. All penguins (except those in zoos and aquariums) live in the southern
hemisphere. The farthest north penguins get are the Galapagos Islands of Ecuador,
just south of the equator (which, by the way, is not even close to cold!).
