Candy on the forest
floor? It might look like an already-licked sweet treat to eat, but the
poison dart frog (or poison arrow frog) doesn't get its name from tasting
yummy. In fact, if an animal did try to pop a dart frog in its mouth, the
frog would pop right back out. That's because the poison in the frog's
skin tastes terribly bitter, so bitter that the animal that tried to eat
the frog will forever remember: sweet things don't always come in colorful
packages.
